...That's me. I am a creation of the Ultimate Creator. The One who made huge galaxies and microscopic bugs chose to create me, but even more amazing is the fact that He created me in His own image. Wow! Sometimes knowing that God took the time to specially form every strand of hair, fingernail, and blood cell in my body is a little overwhelming, but knowing how much He loves and cares for me outweighs it by tons.
...That's you. He loves you more than you could ever fathom. Do you know His love? If not, it's yours for the taking. He already loves you, whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you've done; He's simply waiting for you to accept it, free of charge, no strings attached. He loves. He heals. He restores.
...That's us. A friend told me recently that, in his opinion, humans are the "pinnacle of God's creation." I agree completely. God tells us in His love letter to us, "You are precious in My sight, you are honored and I love you." (Isaiah 43:4) Why else would He say we "are crowned with glory and honor"? (Psalm 8:5) Why else would God be willing to give up His own life for us? Do you know how much detail He put into each of us? Red blood cells from one person would circle the earth four times! I don't know about you, but if I had created people, I think I would have gotten tired of making so many little parts and would have started clumping things together. But God cares so much about each of His creations that He gives His full attention to big and little things alike.
...That's Creation's Calling. Because God created every one of us, each of us is special, and we should be treated as such. We all have unique gifts and talents; mine happen to be in the area of creativity. I really enjoy taking photographs of God's creations; crocheting warm, cozy, wearable items; designing lovely jewelry; creating one-of-a-kind greeting cards; and so much more. Part of Creation's Calling is a showcase of these creations. When I use my creative gifts, given to me by my Creator, I am praising God. But there's more...we need to ensure that each one of God's special creations is treated with the dignity and respect they so rightly deserve, and many of them are not.
More than 27 million people are in slavery today, more than at any other time in the history of the human race. Human trafficking, the illegal trade of human beings, is prevalent in 161 of the 195 countries in the world today. That's over 80% of our countries! Victims of human trafficking are subjected to force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of commercial sex, debt bondage, or forced labor. Only 1-2% of these victims is ever rescued, while only 1 in 100,000 traffickers are ever convicted. What makes it worse is that much of the time, when they are "rescued", the victims are treated like criminals, instead of being given the help they so badly need.
The mission of Creation's Calling is to praise and glorify God by using gifts and talents to help others. This includes telling people about this horrific crime and the injustice done to so many people around the world today. The more people are aware of what's going on, the more we can do, and the closer we'll get to abolishing slavery. That is why a percentage of each sale from the Creation's Calling store is donated to organizations working to free men, women, and children from slavery.
